Class 4 Newsletter – Summer 2
Hello everyone, I hope your half term break has been an enjoyable one. We have a lot to cover in your last half term, including a residential, a school play and a leaver’s service, as well as all the interesting topics we will be looking into.
This half term we will take a look at a different kind of a story – a dystopian novel called “The Giver”. A young boy called Jonas is growing up in a strange community, very different in many ways to our own. With strange rules and talk of those who break them being “released” from the community, Jonas is about to take part in the Ceremony of Twelve. But just what is in store for him?
This term we continue looking at shape, finishing off the last few remaining topics of Year 6. We will also take time to consolidate all of our learning in Maths throughout the year, revisiting topics we feel we would like more work on before you all go to high school.
Topic – Perfect Planet
Our topic work this half term is called Perfect Planet, and focuses on our own understanding of the world we live in. We will start by looking at the planet we are on now, its history and how things work. Then we will look at what changes we can make to make our planet even greater. We will also discuss what we think a perfect planet looks like, and even design our own perfect planet as well.
This half term has a lot of different events going on throughout. As well as the learning that will take place for each of the subjects above, we also have things like the school play, leaver’s service, residential, and transition week to organise. It will certainly be a busy one! We hope that you enjoy this last half term as much as you have enjoyed the rest of the school year. As always, if you have any questions my email is at the top of this newsletter should you wish to chat with me about anything. For any specific dates, check the weekly newsletter for more information.
Using Seesaw for Home Learning
To use the 'Seesaw' app to submit and celebrate home learning you need a 'log in' which I will privately message on the Facebook group.
1. Go to https://web.seesaw.me on a computer. Or install the Seesaw Class iOS or Android app.
2. Tap/click “I’m a Student”.
3. Type in your Home Learning code into the ‘text code box’.
(You don’t use the email/password login)
4. Post to your journal, respond to activities, and view class announcements.
5. Remember, this code is like a password. Keep it safe!
Posts need to be reviewed by myself before they can be seen in the class journal
