Welcome to the Class 4 page! Here you will find lots of information about our learning and documents and web links to support with home learning. Parents, friends and visitors to the site, we hope that you enjoy sharing and celebrating our achievements with us.
We are a class of 12 Year 6 pupils based in the small classroom which we have affectionately called 'The Hive' due to its bee theme. Mrs. Collins is our teacher and Mrs. Pearson takes us to Forest School on Tuesday afternoons at Kilburn Woods with Miss Wilkinson.
This term our learning journey is 'Marvellous Me.'
We launched this theme with a brilliant Circus Day where we were able to try and discover our circus skills. We have been thinking about what makes us all special and unique and we are practicing our individual talents for a Talent Show at the end of term. Each week we will have a focus question to drive our learning:
What is the best part of me?
Should portraits be like photographs?
How does the heart work?
How does the brain control my body?
How does the body transport water and nutrients?
How has medicine changed over time?
Each week pupils learn 10 spellings following a rule and 5 Challenge Words from the Year 5/6 Statutory Spelling List. We practice the spellings each day in class and also encourage pupils to practice them at home. The spellings for the week beginning 27.09.21 are:
Adjectives ending in -ant into nouns ending in -ance/ -ancy
observant observance expectant expectancy hesitant hesitancy tolerant tolerance relevant relevance
curiosity definite develop dictionary environment
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
