Teaching and Learning Committee
Our sub-committee ensures that standards of teaching and learning are as high as possible. We do this by collaborating with the Headteacher, to oversee the school’s self-evaluation; monitor progress of the School Development Plan priorities which relate to teaching, learning and outcomes of pupils; and review school assessment data in depth. This ensures that the curriculum is broad and balanced, relevant to the needs of all children, provides continuity and progression, and is adequately resourced.
We monitor the impact of school policies and procedures that relate to the curriculum, pupil premium, SEND, safeguarding, behaviour and attendance. We also ensure that policies and procedures are in place to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, PSHE and wellbeing development of children; and that the school vision and Christian values are intertwined throughout school life.
We meet termly to look at what is taught in lessons, how it is taught and how all pupils are helped to achieve the best they can, whatever barriers there might be to their learning. We do this through learning walks and classroom visits, talking to children, listening to parents, and keeping updated with local and national educational updates to understand best practice in schools. We also act as link governors with subject leaders to find out about developments in the curriculum and how it is delivered. We work closely to ensure the best interests of your child are met and report back to the full governing body by submitting minutes which record decisions made and actions taken.
